OTTERLY ENTERTAINING OTTERS
Our Asian short-clawed otters have quickly become firm favourites with both staff and visitors! Known for their playful nature, you’ll often spot them swimming, splashing, or digging for treats in their sandpit.
This summer brought an exciting surprise – our otter pair, Harriet and David, became first-time parents to five adorable pups. The little ones are already beginning to explore their surroundings, while our animal care team keeps a close eye on their progress.
Fun Fact – did you know Asian Short-clawed Otters have small claws, less webbing and dexterous fingers allow them to forage for their prey under rocks and in muddy water – sounds a bit yucky!
FUN, PLAYFUL AND INQUISITIVE
Asian short-clawed otters are the smallest of all 13 otter species, famous for their busy paws, chirpy calls, and strong family bonds – and Harriet, David and their pups are no exception!
We’ll be sharing regular updates, photos, and videos on our social media channels so you can follow this little family’s journey as the pups grow in confidence and curiosity.
