Care & Conservation

Champions for Wildlife

At the heart of everything we do is education and conservation. This zone gives a sneak peak in the huge amount of work that goes on behind the scenes caring for our animals within our collection and helping to protect them in the wild. You will have the chance to see our quarantine systems, our life support systems that run our aquariums, learn about how we train our animals to give the best care and a look into conservation work and breeding we do on site.

A sample of species

Humboldt Penguins (Spheniscus humboldti) originate from the rocky coasts of Chile and Peru where they live in large colonies. They are excellent climbers, jumpers and swimmers.

Short clawed otters (Aonyx cinerea) are one of five different species to live in Asia. They can be found from Bhutan and Nepal to India and Chine and live in many different types of ecosystems, from mountain streams to tropical coastlines.
